| The
requirements for admission to North Carolina
Central University include the following:
- Academic performance and course selection.
Evidence of
graduation from an approved or accredited
high school, a GED
Certificate or Adult High School Diploma.
- Standardized test scores. A satisfactory
score on the Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College
Testing Program (ACT)
if the applicant is applying for admission
directly out of high school.
- Leadership and service opportunities.
Evidence of participation in
scholastic, community and civic organizations
including leadership
participation.
The minimum course requirements (MCRs) for
North Carolina Central
University and the University of North Carolina
(UNC) system are the
same and high school graduates are eligible
for consideration if they
successfully complete the following in grades
9-12:
- In English, four course units emphasizing
grammar, composition,
and literature;
- In Mathematics, three course units including
Algebra I, Algebra II,
and Geometry, or a higher level mathematics
course for which
Algebra II is a prerequisite;
- In Science, three course units including
one unit in a life or
biological science, one unit in a physical
science, and one unit in a
laboratory science course; and
- In Social Studies, two course units, including
one unit in United
States History.
- Two units of the same foreign language
* Students who graduated from high school
prior to 1990 should contact the Undergraduate
Admissions Office to determine specific high
school course requirements required for admission.
* All freshmen may be required to take various
tests as a part of their orientation and the
follow-up procedures of the University.
** Students who graduate
high school in and after 2006 must have one
additional math course from the following:
Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, IB
Math Level II, Integrated Math IV, Discrete
Math, Advanced Models and Functions.
