What type of jobs can I expect to find if I earn a degree in Fitness and Wellness Management?
Students with degrees in Fitness and Wellness Management can find employement in a multitude of environments, from something as simple as a desk person at a fitness spa to a director's postion for several branches of a YMCA program. Jobs are available in hospitals, universities, municpal recreation agencies, with private companies and corporations, in theme parks, resorts and health clubs.

What are the salary ranges I can expect with a degree in Fitness and Wellness Management?
Low end of beginning salary range - $22,000 - 30,000 to a high end of $100,000+ if you work as a director for a major fitness and wellness organization. Is graduate school required before you can get a job?
No. However, a graduate degree is highly encouraged due to the competitive nature of the field. An undergradutate degree in Fitness and Wellness Management prepares students for entry level positions in the Fitness and Wellness industry as well as the competencies needed for graduate studies.

No, but "credentialling" is highly desirable and most professionals in Fitness and Wellness Management commit to one or more certification processes.

Personal trainers must take a certification exam.

Students must complete 500 hours of internship.

How long will it take to complete the program?
The Fitness and Wellness Management degree requires 128 credit hours, at 15-16 credits per semester students can complete the course work within four years.

Is there any kind of career placement in the Dept. of Physical Education and Recreation?
Faculty of the department are committed to working one on one with students in their junior and senior years to help them identify and contact potential employers. North Carolina Central Univeristy also has a career placement and counseling service available at no cost to students.
