NCCU'S FINAL SEASON OF DIVISION II IS MOST SUCCESSFUL ONE
North Carolina Central University’s final season of Division II competition proved to be its most successful one, as the Eagles placed 24th in the final 2006-07 standings of the U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup, the prestigious award presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the United States Sports Academy and USA Today to the best overall collegiate athletics programs in the country. PETERSON SELECTED IN FIFTH ROUND OF 2007 NFL DRAFT
North Carolina Central University defensive lineman Greg Peterson has been selected in the fifth round (No. 141), by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, of the 2007 NFL Draft.  The Criminal Justice major is the first NCCU player selected since Robert Massey was taken by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 1989 draft. NCCU has not had a player selected in the NFL draft since Robert Massey was the 46th player taken in the 1989 draft.
