LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL PICKED TO WIN CIAA WESTERN DIVISION
King Named Preseason All-CIAA, Rebuilding Eagles Selected Fifth in CIAA West

Cassie King     CHARLOTTE, NC - North Carolina Central University junior Cassie King, the leading scorer in the conference last year, has been selected to the 2005-06 Preseason All-CIAA Women's Basketball Team, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Thursday (Oct. 13) at a press conference in Charlotte, NC.
     King, a 6-0 forward from Wendell, NC, is expected to lead a Lady Eagles squad that has been picked to win the CIAA Western Division, as voted by the conference's coaches association. King was the fourth-leading scorer in the nation last season, averaging 22.9 points per game to go along with 9.8 rebounds per contest.
     Lady Eagles head coach Joli Robinson, who is entering her 10th season at NCCU with a record of 132-122, welcomes back 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's 16-13 team.
     The NCCU men's basketball squad, on the other hand, returns only five lettermen, including one starter, from last season's 16-12 club. The Eagles have been predicted to place fifth out of six teams in the CIAA Western Division.
