Vikings Become First CIAA Team This Season to Sweep Doubleheader Over Eagles

April 6, 2007

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Vikings used big scoring outbursts in an inning of both games against North Carolina Central University to capture a doubleheader sweep (10-7 and 18-6) Friday afternoon at Holmes Field.

With the wins the Vikings win the regular season series with NCCU (15-21, CIAA 10-4) with a 3-1 advantage.

In game one the Eagles held a 7-3 edge when the Vikings exploded for with a 7-run sixth inning to take a 10-7 victory. In that fateful inning, ECSU gained their first lead of the day collecting six hits while the Eagles committed three costly errors. Meshaw Taylor led the way for the Vikings in game one, hitting his first home run of the year and collecting 4 RBI.

In game two’s victory the Vikings dismantled the Eagles hopes of earning a split with a 14-run onslaught in the 4 inning.
