     HAMPTON, VA - Four North Carolina Central University Eagles earned a place on the 2007 All-CIAA Baseball Team, while five Eagles were named to the CIAA All-Rookie Team, the CIAA announced on Monday.
     Junior catcher Seth O'Brien (Winston-Salem, NC), sophomore third baseman Robert Landis (Winston-Salem, NC), freshman center fielder Oliver Jenkins (Rocky Mount, NC) and freshman pitcher Alex Weathersby (Raleigh, NC) were chosen to All-Conference team.
     Jenkins and Weathersby were also picked to the CIAA All-Rookie Team, along with shortstop Justin Goodson (Atlanta, GA), second baseman Kurt Wilson (Atlanta, GA) and outfielder Tim McAllister  Raleigh, NC).
     O'Brien, who helped NCCU to the CIAA's regular season title in the school's first year of playing baseball since 1975, finished second on team in home runs (four), third in runs batted in (25) and led the team in putouts (173). 
     Landis, a two-time CIAA Player of the Week, led the Eagles in batting average (.375), home runs (five) while only striking out four times in 104 at-bats. Landis ranked second at NCCU with 39 hits and 26 runs batted in.
     Weathersby, NCCU's winnigest pitcher this season, amassed a 9-5 record with a team-low 3.98 earned run average (ERA). Weathersby led the CIAA in innings pitched (86.0), wins (nine) and games started (13), strikeouts (66). He also pitched seven complete games, including one shutout victory.
     Jenkins, a standout player on the 2007 CIAA Championship Football squad, had a memorable first season  being named to the All-Conference team and All-Rookie team. Jenkins led NCCU and the CIAA in stolen-bases (35), steal attempts (39) and total plate apperances (165). Jenkins also registered 25 walks to rank third in the CIAA, his 44 runs scored are tied for second in conference and he started all 40 games for the Eagles.
     Wilson and McAllister, who were named to the CIAA All-Rookie team in addition to Jenkins and Weathersby, had strong rookie seasons for head coach Henry White's unit.
     McAllister, who started 28 of the 36 games he played in, recorded 18 runs, 20 hits, three doubles, three triples, two homeruns and stole 23 bases, which ranks fifth in the conference.
     Wilson, a native of Atlanta, GA, ranked third at NCCU with a .327 batting average and accumulated 25 runs scored, 34 hits, six doubles, two triples and 28 stolen bases.
