North Carolina Central University:
The CIAA's First Bowling Champion

     RALEIGH, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's first conference Bowling Championship held at the Raleigh Capital Lanes came to a climatic finish with a final tie breaker 5th Baker game between North Carolina Central and Virginia State University. 
     The Lady Eagles of  NCCU went ahead early 2-0, but Lady Trojans came back to tie 2-2. Game 1 - NCCU 167, VSU 147; Game 2 - NCCU 171, VSU 165; Game 3 - VSU 155, NCCU 148; Game 4 - VSU 157, NCCU 149; Game 5 - NCCU 175, VSU 156. 
     Finishing third were the ladies of Fayetteville State University. 
     All 12 schools competed in cross-divisional and all divisional Baker games in the morning sections, a score tally from the previous day of team competition were added to determine the eight teams to advance to the double elimination tournament. Teams advanced by winning 3 out of 5 Baker games.
