DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University head football coach Mose Rison has announced the hiring of five members of his football coaching staff.
John D. Morgan, Jr., who will coordinate the Eagles defensive unit, was the head coach at Fort Valley State University during the 2003-05 seasons, amassing a 22-11 record. A 1993 graduate of Bowie State University, Morgan had two stints at his alma matter, first as defensive and recruiting coordinator (1995-98) and then again for two seasons (2001-02) as associate head coach and defensive and recruiting coordinator. Morgan spent one season (2000) at Morgan State University as recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach and one season at Salisbury State University (1999) as the defensive and recruiting coordinator.  Last season, Morgan was a defensive intern at the University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP).
Otis N. Covington, Jr., spent two seasons at Fort Valley State as an assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and director of football operations under then head coach and current NCCU defensive coordinator Morgan. Covington, who will serve as recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach under Rison, most recently was special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Division III Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich. Covington was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Bowie Stare during the 2002 season and served in a myriad of positions at Morgan State in the 2000-01 seasons. Covington earned a B.S. in Marketing from MSU in 1997 and a MBA, with a concentration in information systems, from MSU in 1999.
A 2004 graduate of Towson University with a B.S. in Sports Studies, John A. Kelley will oversee the Eagles defensive line. Kelley served with assistant defensive backs coach Bryant at UMCP as an offensive and defensive intern during the 2005-06 seasons. Prior to coaching in College Park, Kelley was an outside linebackers coach at Wesley College in Dover, Del. during the 2004 season and an assistant offensive line coach at Towson University in the 2003 season. As a player, Kelley starred at defensive end and tackle at Towson and was team captain in 2002.
After serving as offensive line and tight ends coach for two seasons at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tenn., Darryl A. Bullock joins Rison's staff as his offensive line coach. Bullock coached defensive lineman at Elon University (2004), East Tennessee State University (2003) and Gardner-Webb University (2001-02). He last, exclusively, coached offensive lineman at the University of New Hampshire in the 2000-01 seasons, where he coached five all-conference linemen.
Milton D. Bryant II, a 2006 graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, will join the Eagles staff as an assistant defensive backs coach. From 2003-05, Bryant was the defensive backs coach at Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Md., before taking the same position and adding quarterbacks coach to his duties at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Md. in June 2005. Most recently, Bryant served as a defensive intern at UMCP, where he assisted with the Terrapins defensive game plans and assisted coaching the defensive backs.
