NCCU'S PRUITT SIGNS NFL FREE AGENT CONTRACT WITH RAVENS

Greg Pruitt, Jr.     BALTIMORE, MD -- North Carolina Central University running back Greg Pruitt, Jr. has signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League, the team announced Friday (May 4). 
     Pruitt, a 5-10, 200-pound native of Cleveland, Ohio, arrived at team headquarters on Friday to take part in the Ravens' two-day rookie camp and follow in his father's foot steps as a member of the NFL.
     In just three seasons at NCCU, Pruitt he became the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,008 career yards and is the only Eagle to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season twice (2004 and 2005).
     As a senior in 2006, Pruitt rushed for 733 yards on 145 attempts (5.1 avg.), scoring six touchdowns in 12 games. He recorded a season-high 147 all-purpose yards, including 117 yards with a 54-yard touchdown on the ground and 30 yards on four receptions, against Elizabeth City State University (Nov. 11) to earn the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship Game Most Valuable Player award. 
     Pruitt topped the team in rushing all three seasons. During that time, the team won back-to-back CIAA Football Championships in 2005 and 2006, including a perfect 11-0 regular-season record, a No. 4 national ranking in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 poll, and the Sheridan Broadcast Network Black College National Championship in 2006.
     His father, Gregory, Sr., was a four-time Pro Bowl running back in the NFL with the Cleveland
Browns and Oakland Raiders.
