List of 2001 Recruiting Class
In February, when NCCU head coach Rudy Abrams
announced his first eight signees, he said, "We are still waiting to hear
back from some recruits, and hoping to find some more big lineman."
His wish came true. Seven of the eight newcomers
are linemen, including six on the offensive front. Add that to the two
offensive linemen from the first batch of recruits, and the Eagles will
have more depth up front than they have seen in years.
"Athletically, we are heading in the right
direction," Abrams said about the recruiting class. "It will be a matter
of how quickly they learn what we are doing, as well as how quickly we
can learn how well they can play."
"A lot of the new guys will have to play ...
and play well," Abrams added. "Lack of experience may be a key factor in
trying to get where we want to be."
