The North Carolina Central University versus Elizabeth City State University football game, originally scheduled to be played in Durham at NCCU's O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium, has been moved to Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. as part of the New York Urban League's 37th Annual Whitney Young Football Classic. North Carolina Central University running back Greg Pruitt, Jr. has signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League, the team announced Friday. [Full Story

Greg Peterson North Carolina Central University defensive lineman Greg Peterson has been selected in the fifth round (No. 141), by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, of the 2007 NFL Draft.  The Criminal Justice major is the first NCCU player selected since Robert Massey was taken by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 1989 draft. Ten North Carolina Central University Eagles have been voted to the 2006 Daktronics All-Southeast Region football team, selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). North Carolina Central University's football team returns home for its regular-season finale and homecoming against Johnson C. Smith University. The Eagles, who clinched their second-consecutive CIAA western division title last week, look to complete the first perfect regular season in school history. NCCU took advantage of Livingstone miscues as the Eagles defeated the Blue Bears 37-15. The victory provides NCCU the best start in school history and a spot in the CIAA Championship Game on Nov. 11 in Durham, N.C., where the defending conference champs will face the winner of next week's Elizabeth City State/Virginia Union contest. NCCU travels to Salisbury, N.C. to face the Livingstone College Blue Bears at 2 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Stadium for LC's Homecoming game. The Eagles will have a chance to clinch the CIAA's Western Division title for the second consecutive season and become the first squad in school history to start a season 9-0. At his annual Tuesday press conference, NCCU head coach Rod Broadway said Langston University (4-2) was the best team the Eagles would play in some time. That echoed true at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium on Saturday, as NCCU (8-0, 5-0) held off a challenging Lions squad, 31-21. After completing its four-game road trip undefeated, NCCU returns to O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium for the first time in 42 days. The Eagles will step out of conference to face NAIA  member Langston University (Okla.). With a win, NCCU would start 8-0 for the second time in school history and the first time in 65 years. NCCU finishes its four-game road trip with a contest against CIAA division rival FSU.  NCCU has won 23 of its last 26 contests overall, nine straight conference games and seven straight road contests. North Carolina Central University defensive coordinator Clifford Yoshida is known in the Baton Rouge area as a defensive specialist and a great coach, since he helped Southern University to an 11-1 record and a Black College National Championship as the Jaguars' defensive coordinator in 1993. On Saturday, Yoshida's Eagle defense proved his reputation to be true, as NCCU forced seven turnovers (six interceptions and one fumble recovery) en route to a 27-20 victory over NCAA Division I-AA foe Southern in front of 12,845 fans at A.W.
