NCCU Places Second at CIAA Western Division Golf Challenge
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Powered by individual medalist
performances by newcomers Joseph Clayton and Brian Demby,
North Carolina Central University captured second place at the 2005 CIAA
Western Division Golf Challenge on Tuesday (March 15) at the Winston-Lake
Golf Club in Winston-Salem, NC.
NCCU's two-day total of 672 was 43 strokes
shy of the event winner and reigning CIAA champion Fayetteville State University.
The Eagles were led by Clayton, out of Durham,
NC, who fired a 75 on day two to finish the event as the second-place medalist
with a score of 155. Demby, a native of Cary, NC, finished with a two-day
total of 160 for fourth-place medalist honors.
Nine CIAA schools participated in the event
as the field included NCCU, Fayetteville State, Winston-Salem State University,
Saint Paul's College, Johnson C. Smith University, Elizabeth City State
University, Virginia Union University, Saint Augustine's College and Shaw
University.
