NCCU's Jameshia Levister Crowned Conference Rookie of the Year
(Louisburg, NC) In only its second season
since being reinstated as an intercollegiate sport at North Carolina Central
University, the Eagle golf team placed fourth at the 2001 CIAA Men's Golf
Championships at Bull Creek Country Club in Louisburg, NC.
The Eagles scored 719 during the two-day competition
to finish fourth behind Johnson C. Smith (664), Saint Augustine's (639)
and conference champion Fayetteville State (628).
NCCU freshman Jameshia Levister, a
female playing in the No. 1 spot on the men's team, was recognized as the
2001 CIAA Men's Golf Rookie of the Year. Levister's two-day score of 173
(83 + 90) was equaled by fellow Eagle Merve Heggins (89 + 84) to
lead NCCU.
