NCCU On Target in Second Half for Win Over WSSU
NCCU's Jimmy Boston Scores Season-High 25 Points
WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- North Carolina Central University
men's basketball sophomore center Jimmy Boston scored a season-high
25 points, including 14 in the second half, to pace the Eagles to a 68-61
win over Winston-Salem State at a sold-out C.E. Gaines Center in Winston-Salem,
NC.
NCCU (14-10) trailed 25-24 at the half, but shot
65 percent from the field in the second half (13-for-20), including 83
percent shooting from three-point range (5-for-6).
Brett Harper chipped in 16 points for NCCU,
with 14 coming in the second half.
The win clinches a first-round bye at the CIAA Tournament.
A win on Saturday at Johnson C. Smith would give NCCU the CIAA Western
Division title, the fifth in eight seasons under head coach Greg Jackson.
