J.C. Smith Too Much for NCCU Men
CHARLOTTE, NC -- North Carolina Central University
men's basketball ended the regular season with a 75-60 loss to Johnson
C. Smith at Brayboy Gymnasium in Charlotte. It was the Eagles' largest
margin of defeat all season.
NCCU (15-11) was paced by Jimmy Boston with
a team-best 17 points, and Brett Harper with 14 points, 4 steals
and 3 assists.
JCSU (19-7) was topped by Christopher Reese with
18 points, and Lemans Shingler with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
In spite of the loss, the Eagles still won the CIAA
Western Division Championship by virtue of the conference tie-breaking
procedure. NCCU, Winston-Salem State and JCSU all finished with equal
7-3 divisional records. Head-to-head, NCCU was 3-1, WSSU 2-2, and
JCSU 1-3.
