Men's Tennis Gets Horned by Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith...0-9

     The top-ranked team in the conference, and undefeated, Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls came to Durham to show the Eagles just why they were ranked that highly.  Right from the opening match in doubles competition, the Golden Bulls had great enthusiasm and spirit en route to their 9-0 victory over the Eagles of North Carolina Central University.
     In doubles play, Court #1 saw great action between NCCU's Chris Brown and Troy Merritt taking on JCSU's Chris Lee and Justin Gilbert.  With Lee's powerful, grunting serve, and Gilbert's deadly backhand, the Golden Bulls jumped all over the Eagles 8-0.
     Over on Court #3, the Eagles' Ryan Shands and LeRoy Wray were caught in a blitzkrieg of overhand spikes and finishing drivers down the line by JCSU's Garrick Jones and Andrew Momon.  The Eagles were defeated by the score of 8-1.
     In singles competition, all of the attention in the crowd was focused on Court #1 between NCCU's heavy-hitter, Chris Brown and JCSU's powerful player, Chris Lee.  Lee used his grunting serve, and awesome backhand returns to keep Brown all over the court trying to keep the volley alive.  It would be to no avail as Lee would get the victory by the score of 6-1, 3-0 (retired).
     The action on Court #3 was taking place between NCCU's Quonte Stevenson and JCSU's Andrew Momon, but it would never be close at all.  Momon's split-return down the line, and Stevenson's poorly placed spikes would lead to the victory in favor of Momon by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
