NCCU CLAIMS THREE WEEKLY MEN’S TENNIS HONORS

     HAMPTON, VA – North Carolina Central University sophomore transfer Andres Perez, freshman Bryan Jackson and head coach Curtis Lawson received weekly men’s tennis honors, the CIAA announced on Wednesday.
     A native of Santiago, Chile, Perez was named the CIAA Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Perez has won eight consecutive No. 1 singles matches and six straight doubles matches. On the season, Perez has a 10-4 overall singles record.
     Jackson (Raleigh, NC) was named CIAA Rookie of the Week after posting a perfect 3-0 No. 1 doubles record during the week. Jackson has also won five straight No. 2 singles matches and six consecutive No. 1 doubles contests.
     NCCU head coach Curtis Lawson, in his second stint at NCCU, guided the Eagles to a 3-0 record during the period. Included in those wins were two CIAA victories over Saint Augustine’s College and a non-conference win over NC Wesleyan. Overall, NCCU has won six straight matches.
