Trojans Prove Too Much For Eagles to Handle As They Fall... 7-2 / 5-4
Durham, NC

     In a red-hot sun, or rather an orange-hot sun, the Eagles of North Carolina Central University and the Trojans of Virginia State University battled in men's tennis in Durham on Sunday afternoon.  The Eagles would play tough, but fall in the first match of a double-header.
     The singles competition is where the match would be decided, as the Trojans took five of the six singles matches.  On Court #1, NCCU's Chris Brown and VSU's Rashad Emory did battle in what, on paper, seemed to be an even match-up.  But in the actual competition, it would be Emory winning the first match 3-8.  He forced Brown to have to return a very straight-edge serve, and he was just unable to do so.  Brown committed too many unforced errors that led to many of Emory's points.
     The lone victory in the singles competition in Match #1 for NCCU would come from Quonte Stevenson by way of an 8-3 margin over VSU's Jarrad Lawrence.
     In doubles competition, VSU would score two more points by taking two of the three sets.  NCCU's Joseph Person and William Graham recorded the only victory with an 8-0 shut-out over.
