NCCU'S PEREZ EARNS CIAA MEN'S TENNIS ALL-CONFERENCE HONOR
HAMPTON, VA – North Carolina Central University sophomore transfer Andres
Perez has been selected to the 2007 Central Intercollegiate Athletic
Association All-Conference Team, as chosen my the league's head coaches
on Tuesday (April 17) night.
A native of Santiago, Chile, Perez, who was
named the CIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks
during the regular season, finished as the second ranked No. 1 singles
player in the conference. He boasted a 5-2 conference record, with both
of his league losses coming against the CIAA Player of the Year, Ibukun
Ilesanmi of Shaw University. Perez collected a 13-6 overall singles record,
with two of those losses coming against Division I competition.
Perez begins competition as the No. 2 seed
in the CIAA Tennis Championships beginning Wednesday (April 18) on the
campus of Virginia State University in Ettrick, Va.
