North Carolina Central's David Young had 21 points and was named Black College All-Star Classic's MVP as the East beat the West 82-80 at Forbes Arena at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Young's NCCU teammate Melvin Whitaker had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the East, and St. Augustine's Desmond Peoples was also in double digits with 10 points.
Shaw's Anthony Greenup scored six points.
Behind the play of Young, Elizabeth City State's Jonathan Harris, Greenup and Bowie State guard Anton Jenifer, the East jumped out to a 31-21 first half lead.
But once that group left the court, the West roared back, and took the lead into the locker room at half time.
In the second half, Young made five 3-pointers including one which tied the score 76-76 and allowed the East to battle back for the win.
Paine College's Yari Scott led the West with 21 points.
In the women's game, the West beat the East, 79-53. Shaw's Latasha Shipman
had two points, and teammate Margiella Mobley also played for the East.
