NCCU TRACK & FIELD TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS WEEKEND'S DUKE INVITATIONAL
DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University will
send five track & field athletes to this weekend's Duke Invitational
at Wallace Wade Stadium.
The lone NCCU female athlete competing at this weekend's
event is freshman long jumper Angela Brown, who earned All-America
honors during the indoor season with a leap of 18' 11.25" for a sixth place
national finish. The rookie also won the conference indoor championship
with a jump of 19-feet.
The four NCCU men - Albert Newkirk, Michael
Patterson, Tavius Walker and Floyd Ingalls - will compete
in the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. The foursome
won both events at NCCU's Lee Calhoun Invitational meet last week held
at Wallace Wade Stadium with times of 40.85 and 3:15.49, respectively.
In addition, Newkirk and Patterson will run in the
400m dash, and Walker will race in the 100m dash.
