NCCU SOFTBALL SWEEPS FAYETTEVILLE STATE

    DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University opened its conference schedule by sweeping Fayetteville State University 18-2 and 10-0 in a CIAA softball doubleheader Wednesday at Campus Hills Park in Durham.
    In game one, NCCU junior hurler Stephanie Spindler surrendered just three hits to earn the victory, while contributing at the plate with a two-run double and four runs scored.  Freshman shortstop Lanelle Turner hit 2-for-2 with two doubles, four RBI and four runs scored for the Lady Eagles (2-6, 2-0).
    In game two, Spindler sparked the Lady Eagles by hitting 3-for-3 with a double, home run, three RBI and three runs scored.  NCCU sophomore Lisa Hicks collected four strikeouts in the shutout victory.
    Jennifer Hardison suffered both losses for FSU (2-2, 0-2).
