NCCU SOFTBALL POUNDS BULLDOGS
Latisha McEachern's Bat Sparks NCCU Offense in "Eight-Run Rule" Victory

    DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University hit .414 as a team (12-for-29) to fly past Bowie State, 9-1, in  CIAA softball action Sunday at Campus Hills Park in Durham.
    Lady Eagle sophomore Latisha McEachern hit 4-for-4 with three runs scored, including the game-ending run after a two-out triple in the bottom of the fifth.  Lanelle Turner singled home McEachern to end the game with the "8-run rule."
    NCCU left fielder Rena Armwood, a Southern Durham graduate, contributed a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with two RBI and a run scored, while catcher Stephanie Spindler went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
    Sophomore pitcher Lisa Hicks allowed one run and scattered five hits in the complete game victory for the Lady Eagles (7-9, 7-3).
    Bowie State lead-off batter Tarlesha Wayne scored the Lady Bulldogs only run on a Ami Bracey single in the top of the first inning.
