NCCU SOFTBALL SWEEPS J.C. SMITH
Lady Eagle Rena Armwood Blasts Two HRs in Doubleheader

    DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University left fielder Rena Armwood, a Southern High graduate, blasted two home runs and knocked in six runs during a doubleheader sweep (23-5, 14-6) of Johnson C. Smith University Monday at Campus Hills Park in Durham.
    In game one, NCCU posted six runs in the first inning, seven in the third, and 10 runs in the fourth for a 23-5 victory.  Armwood hit 3-for-4 with a HR and three RBI, while Rebecca Freeman went 3-for-3 with two RBI, a double, and four runs scored.  Lady Eagle pitcher Lisa Hicks allowed one earned run on five hits to pick up the win.
    In game two, pitcher Stephanie Spindler surrendered one earned run, while collecting four strikeouts en route to a 14-6 win.  Armwood struck again with a two-run HR, adding a third RBI on a sacrifice fly in a five-run fourth inning.  Freshman Whitney Taylor-Davis entered the game in the third inning to go 2-for-2 with two RBI for NCCU (11-11).
