Worthy's Bat Swings NCCU past Livingstone in Twin Bill

     (DURHAM, NC - April 10, 2002)  North Carolina Central University senior shortstop Shenika Worthy hit 6-for-8 with a home run and two triples during a doubleheader sweep of Livingstone College (19-5, 15-3) at Hillside Park in Durham, NC.
     In game one, NCCU exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the first inning to set the standard for the evening. The Lady Eagles added seven runs in the fourth inning, including home runs by Worthy and senior outfielder Stephanie Kyle, to seal the deal and bring the final score to 19-5. Senior second baseman Lanelle Turner chipped in three hits.
     In game two, NCCU again took advantage of their first and last at-bats, scoring five in the first inning and six in the fourth to cruise to a 15-3 victory. Worthy went 4-for-4 with two triples, two runs batted in and three runs scored. Kyle, Turner and freshman right fielder Lauren Edwards added two hits apiece. Livingstone third baseman Lachondra Kershaw belted two triples in a 3-for-3 effort at the plate.
     NCCU pitcher Jahara Hojilla White picked up both wins, while Laiya Cook suffered both losses for Livingstone.
