LADY EAGLES RUN AT CIAA TITLE ENDS IN SEMIFINALS TO FAYETTEVILLE ST.

PETERSBURG, VA -- North Carolina Central University could not overcome a nine-run second inning by Fayetteville State University, as the Lady Eagles' hopes of a conference championship ended with a 14-12 loss to the Lady Broncos in the CIAA semifinals at the Petersburg (VA) Sports Complex.
NCCU (26-18) scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to make things interesting, but a line drive to center field off the bat of sophomore Asha Sutton was caught for the final out of the game.
Sutton led the Lady Eagles offense by going 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and two runs scored, while NCCU juniors Jameka Little and Candace Spruill each had two hits and three runs scored.
