NCCU FALLS TO KUTZTOWN, 21-0, IN NCAA DIVISION II SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
KUTZTOWN, PA -- Rachel Weidensaul pitched a
four-hit shut-out and Kutztown rapped out 19 hits to defeat NC Central,
21-0 in five-innings, in game six of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic
Softball Regional at North Campus Field Friday afternoon .
Steph Denlinger hit her 24th home run of the
season, a two-run shot in the fourth. She finished 2-for-4 with four
RBI and three runs scored. Adriane Willmer was 3-for-4 with three
RBI and two runs scored. Caitlin Hague hit a base-clearing double
in the third to finish 2-for-3. She also scored two runs. Kathy
Gregg was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Krista Cameron was 2-for-4 with two
RBI and two runs scored. Maria Schiavo went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Sophia Blue was 2-for-3 for the Lady Eagles.
The Golden Bears scored six runs in the second
inning highlighted with a two-run single by Gregg. Kutztown added
eight runs in the third and five in the fourth. Weidensaul (15-7) struck
out five in the complete game win. NCCU's Michelle Ishida (2-4) went
3.1 innings, allowing all 21 runs, 14 earned.
KU (43-17) will face the loser of the East
Stroudsburg / Lock Haven game on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. NC
Central (31-13) is eliminated.
