THREE LADY EAGLES CLAIM WEEKLY CIAA SOFTBALL HONORS

     HAMPTON, VA – Three North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles earned recognition on the CIAA weekly softball awards list for the week of March 12-18, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Thursday.
     Freshman utility player Michelle Ishida (San Gabriel, Calif.) was voted as the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore hurler Stacey Greene (Detroit, Mich.) was selected as the CIAA Pitcher of the Week and senior shortstop Asha Sutton (LaGrange, N.C.) was chosen as the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week.
     In four games last week, Ishida amassed a .636 batting average by going 7-for-11 at the plate with four doubles, a triple, 10 runs batted in, seven runs scored and four walks.
     In 16 innings of work last week, Greene amassed 20 strikeouts, allowed only four earned runs (1.75 earned run average), held the opposition to a .217 batting average and tallied a 1-1 record.
     Sutton's week included nine assists and three putouts from her shortstop position, while batting .412 (7-for-17) with six runs scored and four RBI.
