NCCU's Spindler Named to Inaugural Onnidan All-American Softball Team

    HAMPTON, VA --  North Carolina Central University senior catcher/pitcher Stephanie Spindler has been named to the Inaugural Onnidan All-American Softball Team.  The team consists of the top 15 softball players from the four historically black collegiate athletic conferences:  the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Mid Eastern Athletic Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association and Southwestern Athletic Conference.
    Spindler, a native of Vancouver, Wash., was named the 1999 CIAA Player of the Year and First Team All-CIAA after hitting .412 (42-for-102) with 45 runs scored, 30 runs batted in, 9 doubles, 5 home runs and 2 triples.  As a pitcher, Spindler collected a 6-4 record with 51 strikeouts in 64 innings of work.  She was also selected to the 1999 CIAA All-Tournament Team, as the Lady Eagles captured their second consecutive conference championship.
