INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

     CHAPEL HILL, NC -- North Carolina Central University sophomore Brian Hope won the men's 60-meter dash for the second straight indoor track meet, this time at the University of North Carolina's "Opener" event in Chapel Hill, N.C.
     Hope, a native of Raleigh, N.C. who also won at the Christopher Newport University Invitational on Dec. 4, finished the 60m race in 6.74 seconds. He also placed second in the 200m dash with an NCAA Division II provisional-qualifying time of 22.20 seconds.
     NCCU junior Hakeem Mohammed, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., won the 400m dash with a time of 48.15, making him a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 10-11, 2006, at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.
     Three other NCCU student-athlete posted provisional qualifying results, including Jessica Mills (11.42m, women's triple jump), Chris Davis (6.89, men's 60m dash), and Dorian Turner (49.39, men's 400m dash).
