THE 10TH ANNUAL LEE CALHOUN HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
The 10th annual Lee Calhoun High School Invitational track and field meet will be held this Saturday (March 30) on the campus of North Carolina Central University with field events starting at 9 a.m. and running events beginning at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
The annual track and field event, which pays tribute to NCCU's first Olympic gold medalist, will feature 35 high schools representing five states (North Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania), including 23 schools from North Carolina and nine in the Triangle area.

LEE CALHOUN LEGACY
In 1956, Calhoun returned from Melbourne, Australia, as NCCU's first Olympic gold medalist, winning the 110-meter hurdle event.   Four years later, Calhoun became the first back-to-back winner of that event, earning a second gold medal in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Italy.
Now deceased, his memory lives on with the running of the seventh annual Lee Calhoun High School Invitational.
