NCCU's Turner Earns All-America Honors in 200-Meter Dash

BOSTON - North Carolina Central University sophomore Dorian Turner captured All-America honors in the men's 200-meter dash on the final day of the 2005 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Saturday (March 12).
Turner, a native of Irmo, S.C., placed sixth in the 200m dash finals with a time of 22.03 seconds. He qualified for the nine-man national championship event by finishing eighth in Friday's preliminaries with a time of 21.75.
"Dorian did really well up here," said NCCU head coach Michael Lawson. "Considering that he did not run the 200-meter dash until mid-season (after competing in the high jump and 4x400m relay), I am excited that he came away with All-America honors."
Fellow NCCU sophomores Hakeem Mohammed and Rashaad Lee also participated at the NCAA championships. Mohammed finished three-100ths of a second from qualifying for the finals of the 400m dash by placing 10th in the preliminaries with a time of 48.49. Lee placed 14th in the preliminaries of the 800m run with a time of 1:56.59.
