SIX MEET RECORDS SET AT LEE CALHOUN HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
Trenton Central Wins Four Relays, Potomac's Ballenger Repeats in
Shot Put
DURHAM, NC -- Six meet records were broken
as more than 500 student-athletes from 29 schools competed in the 11th
annual Lee Calhoun High School Track & Field Invitational at North
Carolina Central University in Durham on Saturday (March 29).
Trenton (NJ) Central High School topped the field with four relay victories
and four individual titles. Trenton Central's boys 4x200 and 4x400-meter
relay teams set meet records with times of 1:27.12 and 3:18.44, respectively.
TCHS's Formetta Gibson also established a new meet standard in the girls
high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 4.25 inches.
Potomac (MD) High School senior Frederick
Ballenger (pictured right) defended his title in the boys shot put with
a meet record toss of 54-feet, 7.75 inches, while also winning the discus
throw with a measurement of 147-feet, 7.75 inches.
Suitland (MD) High School senior Deyon Williams
also captured two individual gold medals, winning the boys high jump (6'
3.5") and establishing a new meet record during his second consecutive
victory in the long jump (23' 5.25").
