NCCU OUTDOOR TRACK EARNS THREE WINS AT HOWARD
RELAYS
DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University posted
three outdoor track victories on Saturday (April 10) at the 1999 Howard
University Relays.
The men's 4x100 meter relay squad, consisting of
Tavius Walker, Floyd Ingalls, Michael Patterson and
Albert Newkirk, took first place with a time of 40.80, defeating
such Division I-AA programs as Norfolk State and Howard. The time
is the fifth-fastest in NCAA Division II during the 1999 outdoor season,
and provisionally qualifies NCCU for the national championship event on
May 27-29 in Emporia, Kansas.
Patterson also won the men's 400m dash with a 47.12,
the third-best time in NCAA Division II.
NCCU freshman Katerina Glosova of the Czech
Republic won her first race on American soil by running a 2:17.00 in the
women's 800m run.
