OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

     CHAPEL HILL, NC - North Carolina Central University freshman Karjuan Williams ran the nation's (NCAA Division II) fastest 800-meter time of the season during the 2007 Carolina Fast Times outdoor track and field meet in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Saturday.
     Williams winning time of 1:49.17 is two seconds faster than any other Division II runner this season, and also is an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Championships on May 24-26 in Charlotte, N.C.
     NCCU sophomore Brandon Jones followed closely behind in the 800m run by recording the nation's second-fastest time of the season (1:51.04) to place third.
     NCCU senior Hakeem Mohammed posted the second-fastest time in the nation in the 400m dash to place second in 46.67 seconds, a personal best.
     NCCU ran to victory in both of the men's relays with times of 40.92 seconds in the 4x100m relay and 3:10.10 in the 4x400m relay. William Scott also claimed a win for NCCU in the triple jump (15.08 meters).
