NCCU'S BROWN WINS 3K RUN AT CIAA OUTDOOR TRACK &
FIELD EVENT
PETERSBURG, VA -- North Carolina Central University sophomore Aisha
Brown captured an individual conference championship by winning the
women's 3000-meter run during day one competition of the 2005 Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on the
campus of Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia.
Brown won the 3k event with a time of 11:28.66,
nearly 10 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, Lisa Stewart of Shaw
University (11:38.18).
A native of Kodiak, Alaska, Brown also won
the women's one mile run during the 2005 CIAA Indoor Track & Field
Championships on Feb. 13 in Newport News, VA.
Two Eagles earned All-CIAA honors as Steve
Easley placed third in the men's pole vault (3.13m) and Eric Speer
placed third in the men's 1500m run (4:05.79).
The second and final day competition gets
underway Saturday (April 23) at 11 a.m. at Virginia State's Rogers Stadium.
