JONES NAMED TRACK MVP AT CIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS; NCCU MEN FINISH SECOND, WOMEN THIRD
PETERSBURG, VA - North Carolina Central University freshman Brandon
Jones won three track events en route to being named male track MVP
at the 2006 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus
of Virginia State University on Saturday.
The NCCU men finished second overall behind
Saint Augustine's College and the women finished third, just 25 points
behind champion Bowie State University.
Jones, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C., won
the 800 (1:51.84 ), 1500 ( 4:00.53) and 5000 meter runs. Jones' time of
16:17.17 in the 5000m topped that of second place finisher and NCCU teammate
Gerald
Jones, who ran a 16:24.64.
Outstanding female performers included: Christina
Harris (3rd in 100m), Sharonda Arnold (3rd in 400m), Robin
Thomas (1st in 1500m, 2nd in 800m), Aisha Brown (2nd in 3000m),
Women's 4x100 Relay Team (1st), Women's 4x400 Relay Team (2nd), Jessica
Mills (1st Triple Jump), and Chanel Raynor (2nd Discus Throw).
Other oustanding male performers included:

Gailey (2nd in 100m, 2nd in 200m), Men's 4x100m Relay (2nd), Men's
4x400 Relay (2nd), Eric Smalls (1st in Shot Put, 1st in Discus).
