NCCU'S LAWSON VOTED CIAA WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD COACH OF THE YEAR

HAMPTON, VA -- North Carolina Central University head coach Michael Lawson has been selected as the 2002 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
During the 2002 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Petersburg, VA, six Lady Eagles piled up enough points to capture second place overall, marking the highest outdoor team finish for the NCCU women in school history.
In his 13 seasons as head coach for men's and women's cross country and track & field at NCCU, this is Lawson's first outdoor conference coach of the year honor. He has twice been named the CIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year (1999 and 2001).
