HOST NCCU WINS FOUR EVENTS AT LAST CHANCE TRACK & FIELD MEET
DURHAM, NC - North Carolina Central University
captured four event victories during the 2004 NCCU "Eagle All-Comers" Last
Chance Track & Field Meet on the Durham campus on Friday (May 7).
NCCU junior Steve Enoch (Burlington,
NC) won the men's long jump and automatically qualified for the NCAA Division
II Championships (May 27-29 in Walnut, California) with a season-best leap
of 7.76 meters (25' 5.5").
NCCU freshman Hakeem Mohammed (Winston-Salem,
NC) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 47.10 to win the men's
400m dash.
The Eagle foursome of senior James Richardson
(Paterson, NJ), freshman Jason Jowers (Winston-Salem, NC), Enoch
and Mohammed recorded their best time of the outdoor campaign in the men's
4x100m relay with a winning time of 40.90, a provisional qualifying standard.
The NCCU women's 4x100m relay team of sophomore
Sharonda
Arnold (Fayetteville, NC), sophomore Christina Harris (Charlotte,
NC), freshman Nickesha Brown (Hempsted, NY) and freshman
Alena
Weldon (Trenton, NJ) won the event and improved on their provisional
qualifying time by recording a season-best 47.18.
