NCCU'S ENOCH EARNS ALL-AMERICA HONORS IN LONG JUMP
Eagles Advance in Four Events at NCAA Track Championships

SAN ANGELO, TX -- North Carolina Central University freshman Steven Enoch (Burlington, NC) earned All-America honors in the long jump at the 2002 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, while the Eagles qualified for Saturday's finals in four other events.
Enoch's second long jump of the day was a season-best leap of 25-feet, 8.25 inches, en route to second place.
In what turned out to be a busy evening for Enoch, the rookie also ran in the preliminaries of the 4x100-meter relay and the 100-meter dash. The Eagle foursome (Enoch, Jamie Richardson, Detric Branch and Jason Smoots) qualified for Saturday's final (6:10 p.m.) with the fourth fastest time overall (40.37), but Enoch did not advance to the finals in the 100m dash after finishing 7th in heat two with a time of 10.70.
NCCU junior Jason Smoots (Gadsden, Alabama), a three-time National Champion, posted the third best time overall (10.15) in the 100m preliminaries. He will attempt to defend his 100m national title on Saturday night at 7:30.
Junior Kennisha Moten (Fayetteville, NC), who earned 400m dash All-America honors in each of her last two national championships (2001 outdoor, 2002 indoor), won the fourth heat of the 400m preliminaries with a season-best time of 54.48. Her quest for a national title will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Senior Katerina Glosova (Cernotin, Czech Republic), who won a national championship in the indoor 800m run, advanced to the finals of the outdoor 800m run with the day's second-best time of 2:10.46.
