NCCU's Lawson Named USTCA Regional Outdoor Coach of the Year

     North Carolina Central University head track and field coach Michael Lawson has been selected as the 2001 U.S. Track Coaches Association (USTCA) Regional Outdoor Coach of the Year.
     During the 2001 outdoor season, Lawson coached two All-Americans, including the National Champion in the men's 100-meter dash.
     A member of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships Committee, Lawson also served as meet director for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, as well as two college and high school meets hosted by NCCU.
     In his 12 seasons as the head coach for men's and women's cross country and track & field, Lawson has produced seven All-America relay squads and 39 individual All-Americans, including three National Champions.
