MEET HISTORY
The LeRoy T. Walker Olympic Development Meet has come a long way since
its creation in 1991. North Carolina Central head track & field
coach Mike Lawson started the invitational meet mostly with borrowed equipment
from outside supporters. Through the years the L.T. Walker meet has
flourished, gathering some of the finest athletes in the region to pay
tribute to a "living legend." And while the L.T. Walker meet maintains
a stellar reputation, the event would not be possible if not for the support
and dedication of many fine individuals and organizations.
