Meet Summary
THE 14TH ANNUAL LEE CALHOUN HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
DURHAM, NC -- The 14th annual Lee Calhoun High
School Track & Field Invitational will be held Saturday, March 25 on
the campus of North Carolina Central University with field events starting
at 9 a.m. and running events beginning at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
The annual track and field event, which pays
tribute to NCCU's first Olympic gold medalist, will feature more than 200
student-athletes from 15 high schools representing four states (North Carolina,
Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey) and Washington, DC.
LEE CALHOUN LEGACY
In 1956, Calhoun returned from Melbourne,
Australia, as NCCU's first Olympic gold medalist, winning the 110-meter
hurdle event. Four years later, Calhoun became the first back-to-back
winner of that event, earning a second gold medal in the 1960 Olympic Games
in Rome, Italy.
Now deceased, his memory lives on with the
running of the annual Lee Calhoun High School Invitational.
