NCCU's Johnson-Webb records 1,000th kill in 3-0 victory over Johnson C. Smith

     DURHAM, NC - North Carolina Central University senior middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb's 1,000th kill highlighted a superb performance from the Lady Eagles as they defeated the Johnson C. Smith University Lady Golden Bulls 3-0 (30-10, 30-11, 30-15).
      Brenda Brown led a balanced NCCU (5-6, 2-0 CIAA) attack with 11 kills, while Johnson-Webb contributed 6 kills and 2 blocks. Jaria Atkins opened the second game with 6 consecutive service aces to lead the Lady Eagles in that category with 7 aces. As a team NCCU totaled 18 service aces. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Lady Eagles have started 2-0 in CIAA play.
     The Lady Golden Bulls (1-1, 0-1 CIAA) were paced by junior outside hitter Desirae Riddick,with a team-high 4 kills. Las Vegas native Jessica Belin added 6 assists and 3 kills. 
     NCCU next travels to West Chester, Pa. for the West Chester Tournament before returning to McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. to face Winston-Salem State University.
