NCCU VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS ST. AUGUSTINE'S TO STAY UNDEFEATED IN CIAA PLAY

     DURHAM, NC - North Carolina Central University defeated Saint Augustine's College 3-1 (30-25, 28-30, 30-23, 30-24) at McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium in Durham, NC to remain unbeaten in CIAA play, while handing the Lady Falcons their first conference loss of the season.
     NCCU senior middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb recorded a match-high 14 kills and seven blocks to lead the Lady Eagles (15-7, 10-0 CIAA), while senior outside hitter Brenda Brown added 14 kills and a match-high 22 digs. Junior Latoya Tate contributed 12 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore Jaria Atkins tallied 40 assists, 11 digs, six kills and three blocks for a solid all-around effort.
      St. Augustine's (10-3, 8-1 CIAA) was topped by junior outside hitter Aurea Griffith with 14 kills and 18 digs. Junior Samantha Joseph added 12 kills and 15 digs, while junior Renee Clarke recorded team-highs of 27 assists and 20 digs.
     NCCU's next opponent is Shaw on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at Hillside High School in Durham.
