NCCU Volleyball Downs Norfolk State 3-0 At Lady Ram Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – North Carolina Central University’s women’s volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory (30-24, 30-27, 30-25) over the Lady Spartans of Norfolk State University during first-round action from the Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams’ Volleyball Invitational held in Winston-Salem, NC on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles jumped out ahead early in the first game of the match en route to a convincing 3-0 sweep of Norfolk State University.  North Carolina Central was led by Nadia Hayes and Shari Matthews, who recorded a team-high 10 kills each.

The Eagles’ Ashley Shade set the pace for North Carolina Central with 43 assists in the contest as NCCU improved to 8-9 overall with the win.

Norfolk State was led by Shardonay Blueford who recorded a team-high 10 kills in the contest.  Solange Honore paced the Lady Spartans with 25 assists in a losing effort.

North Carolina Central returns to action at 4:00 pm when they face the Tigers of Savanna State University.  Norfolk State takes to the court versus South Carolina State University at 4:00 pm as well.
