NCCU'S WICKER-McCREE, BROWN RECEIVE CIAA VOLLEYBALL HONORS

HAMPTON, VA - North Carolina Central University junior outside hitter Brenda Brown and head coach Ingrid Wicker-McCree were named CIAA Volleyball Player and Coach of the Week for September 22-27, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Wednesday.
Brown amassed 28 kills, and 31 digs in two matches during the week to claim the CIAA Player of the Week award.  This is Brown's second player of the week honor this season.
Wicker-McCree was honored as the CIAA Coach of the Week after guiding the Lady Eagles to a perfect 2-0 record last week. NCCU began the week by ending a 10-game losing streak to the four-time defending CIAA champion Lady Falcons of Saint Augusinte's College.  Next, the Lady Eagles traveled to Atlanta, Ga., where they defeated Clark Atlanta University in four games.
The Lady Eagles are currently in first place in the Western Division of the CIAA with an 11-0 conference record, and 14-7 overall.  This is Wicker-McCree's third coach of the week honor this season.
