NCCU'S BROWN RECORDS 1,000TH CAREER KILL

Brenda Brown     CLINTON, SC - North Carolina Central University senior outside hitter Brenda Brown amassed her 1,000th career kill during a 3-0 setback to Catawba College during the Lady Blue Hose Volleyball Tournament at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. on Friday (Oct. 14).
Brown, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., now has 1,007 career kills to go along with a school record 1,317 career digs, becoming just the second Lady Eagle in the program's history to record 1,000 career kills and digs. The first Lady Eagle to reach that milestone was Rena Armwood, who collected 1,031 kills and 1,126 digs from 1996-99.
Earlier in the day, NCCU had its 14-match win streak snapped by a 3-0 loss to Florida Gulf Coast. Brown topped the Lady Eagles with 12 kills, while senior middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb added 10 kills.
NCCU falls to 20-9 on the season, and is still undefeated in conference play with a 13-0 record.
Brown will be recognized along with her fellow seniors on Tuesday, Oct. 18, when NCCU hosts Livingstone at 6 p.m. in McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium for the final home match of the regular season.
