TWO LADY EAGLES GARNER CIAA WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL HONORS
HAMPTON, VA -- North Carolina Central University
senior middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb and freshman setter Ashley
Shade have claimed weekly volleyball honors from the Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association Tuesday.
Johnson-Webb (Chapel Hill, NC) was named CIAA
Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after amassing 48 kills, 13 blocks
and 10 digs during four matches last week (Oct. 17-23). In her top performance,
the senior middle hitter recorded 18 kills and seven blocks during a five-game
setback against Clarion University on Saturday (Oct. 22). This is Johnson-Webb's
third weekly conference honor this season.
Shade (Morganton, NC/Freedom High School)
was voted CIAA Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week after collecting 32
assists, four digs, a service ace and a solo block in three matches last
week. The freshman setter's best outing came against Livingstone (Oct.
18) with 15 assists, a dig and a solo block.
NCCU's record is currently 22-13 overall and
15-0 in conference play. The Lady Eagles travel to Barton on Thursday (Oct.
27) for a 6:30 p.m. match.
