SEVEN LADY EAGLES EARN CIAA VOLLEYBALL HONORS
HAMPTON, VA - Seven North Carolina Central
University Lady Eagles received post-season women's volleyball honors from
the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, including four First-Team
All-Conference selections.
NCCU's First-Team All-CIAA picks are senior
middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb (Chapel Hill, NC), who tops
the conference with 140 blocks and is sixth with a team-best 348 kills;
senior utility player Cherie Wilson (Niles, MI), who collected 143
kills and 122 digs; junior outside hitter Brenda Brown (Fayetteville,
NC), who recorded 284 kills and a team-best 394 digs; and junior setter
Ariel
Germain (Detroit, MI), who is third in the league with 926 assists,
while adding 166 digs and 71 blocks.
Sophomore junior defensive specialist Dorian
Mills (Charlotte, NC) and outside hitter Latoya Tate (Toronto,
CA) were voted to the All-CIAA Second Team. Mills posted 156 digs, while
Tate tallied 118 kills, 170 assists, 249 digs and 35 service aces.
NCCU freshman defensive specialist Latoya
Jones (Wake Forest, NC), who collected 121 digs and 31 service aces,
was named to the six-member CIAA All-Rookie Team.
Surprisingly not appearing on the all-conference
list is NCCU senior Patricia Rodrigues, who is second on the team
with 293 digs, third on the squad with 213 kills, and tops the Lady Eagles
with 53 service aces.
